We have a stellar line up of winemakers coming to our Christmas tastings in Belfast and Dublin this year (Belfast tasting now sold out).
We are particularly looking forward to meeting some of our newest producers in person. The teams from Domaine Modat in the Languedoc, Soalheiro in Portugal andDominio de Tares in Bierzo are all making the journey to Ireland for our tastings. The wines have proved very popular already so we anticipate plenty of activity at their tables!
This summer has seen a huge surge in popularity of Italian wines and we are particularly excited to have so many Italian producers visiting us in November. The Verdicchio virtuosos behind Sartarelli, Caterina and Tommaso, will be here, as will Antonio Zanon who creates the delicious Zuani wines in Collio. Our guests will have the opportunity to try the newly arrived, and rather fabulous, Sicilian Gulfi wines at the tasting with Davide Catania.
From Veneto, we have our new Valpolicella producers, Scriani, alongside the terribly talented Pra team; and Guilio Parentini will be flying in from Morisfarms organic estate in Tuscany. Italy is unique in terms of the vast diversity of the wines this country produces and this really is a fantastic opportunity to explore them for yourself.
Rhone royalty will be here in the form of Daniel Brunier from Vieux Telegraphe – don’t pass up the opportunity to taste these stunning Chateauneuf du Papes. We also have the gorgeous and bubbly Marine Roussel from Domaine Joncier showing her wonderful wines from the village of Lirac. In the French corner we will also have Lucien Lurton wines from Bordeaux and Karin Nyland from Vina Bujanda will be flying from Spain to show her incredible range of wines.
We are honoured to have Sophia Bergqvist, the leading lady of Quinta de la Rosa in Portugal attending the tastings. Sophia set up Quinta de la Rosa with her father after graduating from Cambridge University. As well as building up a global network for their ports, she was responsible for commercialising their red wines too and regularly travels the world promoting the brand and lecturing for the wine MBA.
The new world will be very ably represented by Evan Alexander from Boekenhoutskloof in South Africa (who are most widely known for their Chocolate Block) and the inimitable John Forrest from Marlborough in New Zealand. Casablanca will flying the flag for Chile thus completing our new world line up.
If you needed any further enticement to attend, Colin Palmer will be joining us and bringing some Billecart Salmon champagne with him. Please form an orderly queue…
