Lots of excitement at JN about this Saturday. So much so, we've had to resort to a game of rock, paper, scissors to decide which of the JN Taste Team are lucky enough to be on duty that day. What's with all this excitement I hear you ask?

This Saturday, as well our delicious 'Top 12 for the Festive Season' case being open for tasting, we will be joined in the tasting room by local artisan producers - Kearney Blue Cheese and Kilmegan Irish Cider. They will be here with their delicious fare from 12-4pm. Visit JN and taste it all for FREE.

Kearney Blue Cheese

We first discovered Kearney Blue Cheese at the recent Northern Ireland Food & Drink Show at the King's Hall. As soon as we tasted Paul's delicious cheeses we fell in love and are really looking forward to having him with us on Saturday.

"Inspired by the landscape, Kearney Blue evokes images of drystone walls and old windmills around the southern tip of the Ards Penninsula. Kearney Blue is handmade at Farmview Dairies using the finest pasteurised cows milk. Awards include Best Irish Cheese at Nantwich in 2011, a Bronze award at the World Cheese Awards in 2011 and a Gold award at the British Cheese Awards in 2012. Kearney Blue is deliciously creamy with a piquant blue finish, a must have on any cheese board."

Kilmegan Irish Cider

In 2009, Andrew Boyd and his wife Karen set about trying to make their first batch of cider. The results were very good indeed...

"This beautiful amber liquid was a revelation to me. Tasting fresh and crisp and as natural a product as you could wish for. Using no added acids, sugar, water or concentrates this was, to me, REAL CIDER and so it began. “Less is more” they say and we agree."

Kilmegan Cider has been receiving rave reviews from industry experts and from local diners who have been sampling Andy's Kilmegan Dry Cider and Kilmegan Elderflower Infused Cider at local restaurants, including the Mourne Seafood Bar and Bucks Head Restaurant, both in Dundrum. If you're a fan of Paul Rankin's and Nick Nairn's 'Big Food Trip' you might have seen the Celeb chefs visit Andy at Kilmegan. As well as sampling the delicious cider, the chefs cooked with Kilmegan too.
