Please read the conditions below carefully before ordering any products from our website. By registering on this website you are indicating your understanding of these terms and conditions and are agreeing to be bound by them.
Prices are quoted in Pounds Sterling and Euro. Prices listed are for one 75cl bottle unless otherwise stated and include Value Added Tax at the current rate of 20% UK & 23% ROI, except for En Primeur wines where prices quoted exclude VAT & duty.
We ask you to specify the delivery location for your order because we are legally obliged to charge VAT & duty at the prevailing rates in the country of delivery, regardless of where you may be resident.
The delivery location therefore determines the currency applicable to your order as well as the delivery charges.
Sterling prices are applicable to wines for delivery to Northern Ireland and GB, and for collection from our Crossgar shop and include VAT (20%) and duty (£24.60 per case of wine) at the prevailing rates in the UK.*
Payment for orders for delivery to addresses in NI/UK must be settled in Sterling.
Euro prices are applicable to wines for delivery to the Republic of Ireland and include VAT (23%) and duty (€38.24 per case of wine) at the prevailing rates in ROI.*
Payment for orders for delivery to addresses in ROI must be settled in Euro.

If you live in ROI, but would like to send wine to someone in Northern Ireland or GB, you would need to select “Gt. Britain / Northern Ireland” in the delivery location section, and also register yourself as a customer in this country so that we can create a sterling account for you and process your order in sterling.
If you live in NI or GB and would like to send wine to someone in the Republic of Ireland, you would need to select “Rep. Of Ireland” in the delivery location section, and also register yourself as a customer in this country so that we can create a Euro account for yourself and process your order in Euro.
If you live outside the UK and Ireland, and would like to send wine to someone in either of these countries, simply select the relevant country where the wine is to be delivered, register yourself as a customer in the same country as the delivery location, and the relevant currency and delivery charges will be applied.
You can register and setup accounts in both Gt. Britain/Northern Ireland as well as Rep of Ireland, using the same password for both areas.
10% discount may apply to full bottle price for purchases of 1 case (12 bottles) or more (wines & champagnes only).Discount is applicable to both straight cases of the same wine, and cases containing mixed wines.
JN Club members are entitled to an additional 2.5% case discount, entitling them to 12.5% case discount in total.
No discount is applicable to En Primeur wines, Bin End or Special Offer wines.
Pre-mixed cases / gift packs etc created by us already include all applicable discounts and no further discount is applicable to price list.
Payment and dispatch
Settlement in full is required prior to despatch of orders.
Payment for orders for delivery to addresses in NI / UK must be settled in Sterling.
Payment for orders for delivery to addresses in ROI must be settled in Euro.
Credit or debit card payment may be made online via SSL secure encrypted payment system.
When ordering online at jnwine.com, you will be given a provisional total upon completion of the checkout procedure.
This is an automated receipt of order and not an acceptance.
Your card has only been validated at the time you placed your order via the JN website. Payment will be taken once we have accepted and processed your order or immediately prior to dispatch. We will aim to deliver the order within 5 working days (72 hours in ROI) of receipt of your order.
Your provisional total is what we estimate your order will come to when we check and make up your order. You may find that your final bill is different from the provisional total if, for example, you have agreed to accept substitutions for any products which may be out of stock at the time of packing your order. After assembling your order with substitutions if applicable and having checked all prices and products, if the final price to be charged is more than the provisional total, we will contact you to confirm our acceptance of your order and obtain your approval before payment is processed.
Please note that delivery charges may be subject to change depending on exact delivery location (in particular for deliveries to The Isle of Man, The Isle of Wight, The Scilly Isles and the Scottish islands), and the number of cases ordered (if more than 2 for delivery to GB). JN staff will contact you to advise you of any increase in applicable delivery charges before payment is processed.
We accept payment by Visa, MasterCard, and Maestro.
Payment for En Primeur Wines
A preliminary payment (excluding Excise Duty and VAT) is due on the date of the order; Excise Duty and VAT will be charged when the wine is released from bond. For more information, please refer to our En Primeur terms & conditions.
Storage is available under bond at £8.99 (€10.50 ) per unit case per year. The storage year runs from the 1st September - 31st August and is billed in arrears.
Please note that wines stored under bond can only be removed in full case lots.
We have a reliable and established delivery network throughout Ireland and the UK with regular deliveries to Belfast city centre and daily deliveries to Dublin city centre.
Wine will usually be delivered to you any time between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays). All products ordered from our website will be delivered within 7 working days from receipt of your order.
Please note that deliveries to The Isle of Man, The Isle of Wight, The Scilly Isles and some areas of Scotland may take longer and are subject to a surcharge. Please contact the shop at email@example.com for a quote.
If possible, please let us know where the wines can be left if you are out in the Delivery Instructions section.
If the wine delivery cannot be completed a card will be left with a phone number so that another delivery day can be arranged. We must either obtain a signature or know where the consignment can be left.
Should you require delivery after a particular date, please specify in the ' Delivery Instructions'.
We can deliver wine to work addresses.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery. Claims for breakages will only be accepted only if James Nicholson Wine Merchant is given notification within three days of delivery.
Delivery to multiple addresses
If you wish to have items sent to separate addresses, please complete a separate order for each address.
If you wish to place an order to different people at the same address (for example two people who work at the same company), please complete a separate order for each person.
Charges vary according to the delivery location and volume or value of wine ordered.

You can collect your wine order from our Crossgar shop. Please allow at least one working day for us to process your order (please note this make take longer if the wine is not in stock in Crossgar and we need to order the wine from bond). We highly recommend telephoning before you make your journey to check that your order is ready.

To return or exchange wine, you may do so within 7 days of the date of despatch. It must be in a saleable condition in its original, undamaged packaging, and we will consider the overall condition when making a refund. (This does not affect your statutory rights in the event of faulty goods). We will refund the price of the item to the purchaser or exchange the product once it is received by us.
If a wine purchased from us is corked or faulty, we will offer a replacement or credit upon return of the bottle in question. Please note however, if a wine has been stored incorrectly or kept for too long, we may not be able to offer a refund.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery. Claims for breakages will be accepted only if James Nicholson Wine Merchant is given notification within three days of delivery. If a bottle has been broken please contact us immediately to provide details of the breakage.
We cannot ensure permanent availability of all wines or vintages listed, although we try our best. Wine is an agricultural product of limited supply and finite shelf life. This together with the vagaries of shipping long distances and the fact that some wines just sell better than anticipated can mean that certain wines may, temporarily or permanently, become unavailable and vintages may vary from those advertised.
Many of the wineries we buy from are small businesses who have a finite supply of wine; we get our allocation of a given vintage, and once it is sold out, we just have to wait for the winery to produce more wine with the next vintage.
If we cannot supply an individual wine ordered by you, we will inform you as soon as possible and suggest appropriate alternatives, unless you have agreed to accept substitutions at our discretion. This does not apply to our pre-selected mixed cases where we will, without additional charge, replace an out of stock item with a wine of similar style and of the same or higher price.
We cannot necessarily guarantee availability of the item you request even if it may be showing there is stock on the website.This is because, although we do regular stock-takes and the level should be accurate, there are occasionally small discrepancies. Human error is sadly unavoidable in this area. For this reason, we ask you whether you would be willing to accept substitutions at our discretion.
Due to agency restrictions, we are not able to supply certain wines in the Republic of Ireland and Euro prices will therefore not be shown for the wines in question.
While you are browsing our website, and during the ordering process, we collect information and personal data from you. James Nicholson Wine Merchant will only use this information in order to process your orders, to improve our service to you and inform you of promotions. We will never wilfully disclose information about you to any third party without first receiving your permission.
By placing an order through our website, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and are legally capable of entering into binding contracts.
Our liability in connection with any products purchased through our website is strictly limited to the purchase price of such products. We cannot accept any liability for any indirect or consequential loss, damage, or for any loss of data, profit, revenue or business, however caused, if foreseeable. We accept no liability for any minor errors or omissions that may occur on our website, despite the precautions taken by us in the presentation of the products. These terms do not affect your statutory rights if you are purchasing as a consumer.

Prices for any products ordered will be as quoted on website, except in the case of obvious errors (including typographical). En Primeur Terms and Conditions
All online orders for En Primeur wines are effectively allocation requests only and availability will be confirmed by telephone or e-mail prior to arranging payment. Sending the enquiry does not constitute a financial transaction of any kind.
No further discounts or promotional offers are applicable for any reason to the prices shown for En Primeur wines (including JN Club discount)
VAT & Duty
All wines are purchased “in bond” (i.e. prices are exclusive of VAT or duty). The VAT & duty become payable when the wine is released from bond, either when it is requested for delivery or moved to duty paid storage.
All products are sold subject to availability.
James Nicholson Wine Merchant reserves the right to amend prices, for example following Government or legislative changes, or in the event of major foreign exchange movements.
When the wine arrives in our bonded warehouse in Belfast, a letter will be sent to you indicating the VAT & duty payable to release the wine from bond. It will also detail the various storage options available.

Free delivery to any address in Northern Ireland and ROI for orders of 1 case (12 bottles), or more.

Shipping to another bonded warehouse can be arranged on request, though prices may vary from those shown above.

Gift Vouchers terms and conditions
JN Gift Vouchers are available to be spent online at jnwine.com (Online Voucher) or in our Crossgar shop (Shop Voucher).
Using JN Online Gift Vouchers
Shop as usual on the website and then proceed to checkout. During checkout you’ll be asked to enter the code for each voucher you wish to spend. After entering the gift voucher code(s), your order will be automatically updated with credit to the value of the voucher(s). If there’s any balance to pay, you can use a debit or credit card in the usual way. If you do not spend the full value of the voucher(s), the remaining credit will be stored on your jnwine.com account and can be used towards your next purchase on jnwine.com. Vouchers purchased in Euro can only be redeemed against wine ordered for delivery in ROI. Vouchers purchased in Sterling can only be redeemed against wine ordered for delivery in NI or to GB.
