Champagne Forget-Brimont

This world-famous Champagne house in Montagne de Reims believe that time is a vital element in Champagne production. The wines become even finer as they go through a prolonged ageing process ranging from three to ten years depending on the vintages.

The Forget family began producing its own sparkling wines in the 1920s. Their know-how is reflected in the dedication they have passed down through the family for six generations. Michel Forget is the sixth generation to continue the family’s winemaking tradition. His ancestor Louis planted the first vineyard at the beginning of the 19th century. Since 2000 he has worked in partnership with Frédéric Jorez.

The estate spans 19 hectares, including Grand Cru vineyards in Mailly-Champagne, Verzenay and Verzy, and Premier Cru vinegards in Chigny-les-Roses, Ludes, Montbré, Sermiers, Taissy, and Villers-Allerand.

“Our exacting standards are even higher than the official regulations for the Champagne appellation” -Frédéric Jorez

In the Vineyard

Forget-Brimont believe sustainable viticulture that respects the soil and the vine is the best way for them to express the terroir through their wines. They use only meticulous “green” manual work, organic fertilizer and pheromones to protect against pests with the aim to ensure the vines flourish.

In the Winery

Forget-Brimont only use the first and best juices from the press. The juice is settled by gravity and no enzymes are added so that the aromas can be preserved.

The wines are aged on lees in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks until bottling. This keeps the wines wonderfully fresh and enhances their aromatics.

The wines are blended with 40-50% reserve wines and will become rounder and more complex with ageing. After the dosage the wines benefit from an additional resting period of several months before being shipped.
