Quinta de Chocapalha

It all started in 1987 when Alice and Paulo were looking for a property that would be their family's project and where they could make high-quality wine. Alice and Paulo Tavares da Silva found the farm to make their family's dream come true. There was a lot of work to be done and they quickly took on the necessary work to make Quinta da Chocapalha what it is today.

Located on Serra de Montejunto the landscape delights the senses, made up of the green of the fields, not just the vineyards, and the blue of the sea.

Paulo Tavares da Silva wanted to learn he dedicated himself fully to study. He also wanted to listen to the oldest people in the villages, who knew the secrets of the area's nature. From the beginning, the project was based on taking advantage of the best of tradition, combining it with knowledge and the most modern technologies.

The involvement of the entire family and employees is a hallmark of the project's spirit. The exchange of knowledge and experiences contributes to collective success and personal enrichment.

The entire team is persistently dedicated to the goal of producing the best, continually striving to achieve excellence.

It is with great satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment that everyone approaches their work.

In the vineyard

When the Tavares da Silva family arrived at Quinta da Chocapalha, the varieties planted were intended for production and were in poor condition. Restructuring the vineyard was inevitable in order to achieve the objective of producing wines that best reflected the special terroir of this estate.

Of the 70 hectares in total, 46 are cultivated with vineyards. The Pêra Rocha orchard, occupies 4.5 hectares and the remaining space consists of various woodlands, some very old. Olive trees form a border around the property's boundaries.

The white grape varieties are Arinto, Viosinho, Gouveio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

The red varieties are Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Castelão, Syrah, Touriga Franca, Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
