Sartarelli

Founded by Ferruccio Sartarelli, a skilled baker then entrepreneur, in 1972 decided to invest in his biggest passion to produce a high quality Vericchio wine. He spent time trying to make a Verdicchio wine of absolute excellence of which was a really big challenege as then it was just considered a mass produced table wine. This is how the courageous and passionate story of Sartarelli begins...

The Sartarelli Family

Ferruccio's daughter Donatella now takes care of the company together with her husband Patrizio, even for them the beginning was not easy but overcoming the hard times preserving and passing on her father's values: quality, competence, tenaciousness and reliability. This way they can continue to give the right importance to the land and precious vine it comes from, one of the oldest indigenous wine varieties in Italy.

Today Donatella and Patrizio have their children by their side, each one has specific skills and a deep love for the business. Caterina is in charge of the export markets and Tommaso has become a valid oenologist.

"The story of Sartarelli is made of passion, tenaciousness, courage and love. A love which has never changed over all these years and which constantly encourages and strengthens our family. We not only stand together in the happy moments but above all during the difficult times."  - Sartarelli

The Land

Sartarelli is one of the few Italian wineries which focuses exclusively on a single varietal production, in this case Verdicchio. The winery and offices are built around the century-old country house at 350 meters above seal level. The Sartarelli company, with its extension of 55 hectares of vineyards and 6 hectares of olive groves with 2300 trees, is situated in Poggio San Marcello, a small precious gem surrounded by the beautiful rolling hills of the Marche region. Sartarelli are on the left of the Esino River, which is the traditiinal area where the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC wine is produced.

Here you can find some of the most historically important Verdicchio producing districts, such as Coste del Molino, Tralivio and Balciana. It is here where our oldest vineyards gently line the distinctive hill slopes of the area.

The Grape

A product of excellence is obtained by respecting the grape bunches and the care with which they are transformed. Respect and care are two values on which Sartarelli's philosophy is based. This is why they have always run the vineyards in total respect of the environment. They are firmly convinced that the careful selection and an accurate maturation of the grapes lead to a superior, quality wine.

The characteristics of the wine are enhanced by exclusivley using the Verdicchio cultivar, a fine indigenous grape variety. This grape variety further improves the value of the final product by intensifying its typical characteristics.
