La Jasse is back with another award winning vintage!

Learn About Wine: Old World Wine |

Once a year we’re able to offer JN Wine customers, an exclusive wine experience!  It’s a limited opportunity to pre-order the new vintages of three incredible, but very limited Mediterranean wines just before bottling starts!

These IRRESISTIBLE wines find their origin on the picturesque Domaine de la Jasse, located near Pic St. Loup and the beautiful city of Montpellier in the South of France.  This region has been heralded as in one of the most dynamic wine regions in the Mediterranean area of France. Its name comes from the shelter and shade, known in the local dialect as “Jasse”, provided by the Domaine’s Plane tree. The iconic Plane tree, which is almost one hundred and ten years old provided the inspiration for the La Jasse trademark and logo.

One of La Jasse’s main secrets is the involvement of Patrick Léon, the former winemaker of Château Mouton-Rothschild. Patrick Léon’s experience and credentials are very impressive; he has worked with Alexis Lichine at Château Lascombes, ‘Opus One’ with Robert Mondavi and Château Les Trois Croix with his son Bertrand. Patrick Léon’s involvement is invaluable and a solid guarantee for exceptional high quality wines at La Jasse!   Patrick works alongside the very talented winemaker Bruno le Breton, who employs the most innovative techniques and has won over 20 international gold medals with several of his wines.

The first half of the 2014 vintage has been very dry, we had about 40% less rain than years previous.  A hearty rain after the long drought period, gave our grapes the ultimate opportunity to mature in the best way possible!  The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes responded exceptionally well in this last period and became extremely rich, with a strong powerful structure, a fresh acidity and lots of juicy red fruits.  A superb harvest to age in oak barrels, absolutely fabulous!  So good indeed the wines have already been recognised with a national gold and silver medal. JN Wine is delighted to invite you to pre-order Domaine de la Jasse’s newest red wine vintage, the “Vieilles Vignes” 2014 together with the sensational new “2016” ‘Blanc de Blancs’ and the new 2016 ‘Rosé ‘Coeur de Cuvée’ at very exclusive JN Wine prices! Wine lovers should definitely try these La Jasse wines at least once!

Made from the classic Bordeaux varietals Cabernet-Sauvignon and strengthened with a little bit of Merlot, which are aged for a 12 month period in the best quality French oak 225 litre barrels.  In colour the wine is deep, dark purple and has a rich bouquet of red and black forest fruit on the nose, with fine Mediterranean herbs that are perfectly intertwined again with an elegant hint of oak. The pallet is fresh in his approach, followed by a rich complexity of exuberant, ripe fruit (blackberries, cherries) and fine soft tannins that are seamlessly integrated into this Grand Vin with its lingering long finish!! A perfect companion with fried or grilled red meats, duck and game dishes or just as a nice old cheese.  Decanting optional, but recommended.

Blanc de Blancs 2016

Case(s) of 12 bottles at £9.95 / €14.99 per bottle

This most lovely and very tasty white wine is a unique marriage between two noble grape varieties, Chardonnay and Viognier. Winemaker Bruno le Breton used the ripe, fresh fruity noble chardonnay grape as principal for its final composition.  To create the perfect harmony he adds a small amount of his beloved Viognier to it.  The aromatic and floral Viognier grape produces in combination with the mineral and fresh fruits of the Chardonnay grape a very special, explosive and aromatic taste, with hints of green apple, lychee, apricot, honey and flowers.  It’s a superb apéritif and refreshing sunshine wine, but also a perfect companion for several fish- & pasta dishes, salads & white meats.

Rosé, Coeur de Cuvée 2016

Case(s) of 12 bottles at £9.95 / €14.99 per bottle

The creation of this new “2016” Rosé vintage is almost comparable to the ‘cold pressing’ of an "extra virgin" olive oil! Only the very first, very clean and cold pressing of the finest, purest and most delicate juice ‘the heart’  is used for this new Rosé.  The quality of this rare, pure virgin juice is exceptional high, delicate and brings forth an unprecedented crisp freshness and beautiful fruity bouquet of berries and juicy cherries.  This super exquisite Rosé drinks perfectly as an apéritif, a refreshing summer wine or served as a fine companion for tapas, fish and pasta dishes and other light meats.  Drink now till 2019/20.
