A veritable trip down memory lane... Fine and much more refined nose than most Marlboorugh Sauvignon. Definitely superior though the premium demanded is pretty heavy. Vieille Julienne Chateauneuf 2005

Madfish Cabernet Merlot 2008

The 2008 MadFish Premium Red has a bright dark crimson red colour with great intensity. The wine jumps from the glass with aromatic black cherry, blueberry and chocolate characters.

Melton Nine Popes 2008

This is Graeme 'Charlie' Melton's tribute to Châteauneuf-du-Pape (the story goes that he thought the French translated as Nine Popes), The muskiness of Grenache combined with the earth and spice of the other two grapes that make up the blend - Syrah and Mourvedre - produce a complex layer of flavours including plums, sweet liquorice and cinnamon.

Light and Fresh

The wines are hand picked from all over the world and include delicious examples of a Chilean Merlot, French Pinot Noir, a very soft and young Spanish Rioja, a French blend, a Beaujolais, an Italian red from Tuscany and a red wine from the Lebanon. Full Bodied Reds

This mixed case is specially selected for style and quality. These are really interesting, lovely wines that showcase how different grape varieties and regions around the world are so well suited to this style of wine. The case includes two bottles each of a Spanish wine from the Ribera del Duero, an Argentinian Malbec, a French Mourvedre/Petit Verdot blend, a South African Bordeaux blend, an Australian Shiraz and a red blend from the Clare Valley in South Australia. Bodega Monte Pedroso is a small family bodega (winery) set up in 2000 which is dedicated to crafting wines of fine and high quality. The bodega is situated in a village called La Seca, located in the province of Valladolid within the Rueda Controlled Name of Origin.

The Rueda name includes terrains spanning the provinces of Valladolid, Segovia, Ávila, the area of Castilla renowned for its white wine production since the 14th century. The main climatic characteristic of this region is the contrast of temperature between winter and summer - a key element in obtaining quality wines. In addition, the continental climate is characterized by an average of 2700 hours of sun and 407mm of rainfall a year.

The grape is Verdejo, the traditional grape of the region, perfectly adapted to the hard continental climate as it has been cultivated in the area since the 16th century. This wine is aged on its lees for five months adding complexity to its main characteristics of freshness and elegance.

The JN Taste team are an optimistic bunch. This helps (a lot!) when it comes to the Irish summer season. Whether it be in our own gardens in the sunshine or at outdoor events huddled under an umbrella, one hobby we all partake in is leisurely summer driniking.

Due to their popularity last year we have acquired more of Château Mourgues du Grès Friandise Bag in Box wine. Put your reservations aside and try these wonderful, quality wines in box format. So convenient for serving out to friends, or having in reserve in the fridge or cupboard for when the moment takes you. The bag will keep for up to two weeks after opening.

For the Summer we have them on offer (view prices) But in layman's terms the 3 litre box contains the equivalent of 4 bottles of wine (at £5.00 per bottle), and the 5 litre contains the equivalent of 6.66 bottles (at £4.50 [er bottle).
