James Nicholson Recommends

Jim spends several months every year visiting wineries in search of new, interesting and, most important, good value wines. Our new partners tend to be smallish enterprises, often family businesses, whose emphasis is on quality rather than quantity and, increasingly, likely to follow a winemaking regime that includes a respect for the land with a minimum of chemical intervention. The wines in this case represent some of Jim's personal favourites which he feels overdeliver on the quality/price scale. There is an emphasis on old world wines with examples from the northern Rhône in the form of Graillot's red Crozes Hermitage, Château Macquin from Bordeaux and Domaine Bellier Cheverny from the Loire. Our newest Spanish acquisition Bierzo's Dominio de Tares is represented by its Cepas Viejas made from the alluring Mencia grape while Portugal provides Quinta de la Rosa's Dourosa Branco, a delightful, enticing white from the Douro valley. Italy is of course included in the form of Pra's Soave Classico with its beautifully delineated fruit. This is an awesome case which carries the personal imprimatur of James Nicholson.
