Champagne Laurent Lequart

Champagne Laurent Lequart is a family estate located in Passy-Grigny, in the heart of the Marne Valley. The Village is situated on a natural limestone fault that gives freshness and elegance to the wines.

Laurent Lequart and his wife Nathalie are hardworking and dedicated to the estate. They are always looking for new practices and techniques to further their goal; to harvest grapes at optimum maturity and produce unique wines. Today, their sons, Corentin and Téo, have joined them in the vineyard. They produce 65,000 bottles a year and export 35%.

The wines are distinguished by their terroir, the vintages are elegant and unique. Throughout the range we find complex wines with prolonged aging and minimum dosages. Laurent lets the aromatic richness of the Marne Valley wines express themselves.

In the Vineyards

The estate has been passionately working its vines while respecting the terroir and the environment for 4 generations; notably with a High Environmental Value (HVE) certification obtained in 2019 and a Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne (VDC) certification in 2020.

The 11-hectare estate is mainly focused on the emblematic grape variety of the Marne Valley: Meunier.  Elegant & fruity, Meunier will entice you with its gourmet and delicious flavours as evidenced by the prestigious awards collected by the Laurent Lequart vintages. 80% of the estate is Munier with some vintages being 100% Meunier.

Passy-Grigny is characterised by the diversity of its terroirs and benefits from exceptional exposure. Alongside the Meunier, for which the region is known, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are grown here.

In the Winery

In 1929 an emblematic figure in Passy-Grigny was sensitive to the future of wine growers and had the idea of pooling their know how. Thus, 23 winegrowers founded the Passy-Grigny cooperative, sharing their techniques and highlighting their strengths. The entire Laurent Lequart range is vinified by the Passy-Grigny producers union.

Over the past 20 years they have modernised the wine making process with a modern pressing centre and temperature-controlled vats. The vinification’s are meticulous, diversified and personalized. From manual harvest to pressing to fermentation and ageing, the processes are handled delicately and with the greatest attention.

Laurent Lequart has been president of the producers’ union since 2005.
