Château Roquefort

Château Roquefort is a winemaking estate owned by the Bellanger family. It has a magnificent location between the Garonne and the Dordogne amid the vineyards of Bordeaux, not far from Saint-Emilion. With 100 hectares of vines, the estate has been producing high-quality Bordeaux wines and exceptional cuvees for more than 40 years.

Hills and steep slopes around a limestone plateau offer the perfect setting for grape vines to flourish.

The Bellanger family has long opted to preserve national biodiversity with a collection of forests, meadows and pasture.

This balance is one of the particular features which make Château Roquefort a remarkable Entre-Deux-Mers estate.

The vineyards cover a wide range of terroirs with very complementary plantation plots:

  • The Roquefort plateau, a limestone plateau of the same geological origins as its Saint-Emilion neighbour
  • The Saint Brice plot offering cooler clay loam for white wines
  • The Castelviel site with limestone-clay soils which are perfect for enhancing fruit and giving red wines power and structure

Grape varieties are selected and planted on the estate according to the different terroirs. Matching the grape variety to the terroir and exposure allows our region’s extraordinary potential to be highlighted.

For reds, 70 hectares containing three grape varieties:

  • 60 hectares of Merlot
  • 5 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 6 hectares of Cabernet Franc

For white wines, two major Bordeaux grape varieties covering 26 hectares:

  • 18 hectares of Sauvignon blanc
  • 8 hectares of Semillon

Then comes the delicate work of blending the different varieties to allow their aromas and structure to complement each other perfectly. Château Roquefort wines are born of this passion and expertise.
