Château Sénéjac

The soil of Château Sénéjac is located halfway between Margaux and Bordeaux, on the clay-gravel ridge of the commune of Pian-Médoc. This gravel comes from the erosion of the Pyrenees during the Quaternary era. The soil is therefore covered with gravel, the proportion of which varies depending on the location of the plot.

This soil is naturally poor in organic matter, which promotes the expression of great Cabernet Sauvignons.

The gravel also allows for rapid and efficient drainage, promoting the appearance of early water stress during the growing cycle.

The grape varieties are typical of the Médoc with a majority of Cabernet-Sauvignon (54%), followed by Merlot (32%), Cabernet-Franc (10%) and a touch of Petit Verdot (4%).

The Château Sénéjac vineyard benefits from an oceanic climate closely linked to the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean.

It is this particular climate of the Haut-Médoc that allows the vines to flourish on the terroir.

It brings mildness and rain in winter, sunshine and heat in summer.

Very often, summer is prolonged by a cool and sunny month of September where the alternation of day and night temperatures favors the ripening of the grapes.
