The Pira Family

The Pira family has had a bond with the hills of Serralunga d'Alba since the end of the 19th century.

Starting in the 1950s, Luigi Pira, together with his wife Rosa, transformed the estate into a wine-growing business, aiming to enhance the valuable product of Serralunga d'Alba.

To bring to the glass the history of the generous terroir of Serralunga d'Alba, unique in the Barolo area.

Their wines are the result of a journey through generations - from Luigi's grandparents to his granddaughters - a journey of traditions and devotion, of growth and an eye to the future.

A journey that has taken place entirely in the generous grounds of Serralunga d'Alba.

The Winery

The first step taken by Luigi marked a significant imprint for the company and, in the early 1990s, with the arrival of his sons Gianpaolo, Romolo and Claudio, the family began bottling their own wines, seeking the highest quality.

Production is focused on red wines: Barolo, Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d'Alba Superiore and Dolcetto d'Alba.

Today, the company is run not only by the Pira brothers, but also by Gianpaolo's family: his wife Tiziana and his daughters Annalisa and Elena.

The family takes care of all the tasks: from taking care of the vineyards, through the delicate phase of vinification, all the way to tastings in the cellar.

Their Philosophy

For over a century their vineyards have been cultivated by hands belonging to the same family nucleus.

This continuity enabled them to learn from their grandparents and, at the same time, to explore how to improve continuously in areas where ancestral knowledge could not succeed.

Their working philosophy is to bring out the flavour of the terroir in their wines.

This is why they believe that the hand of man and the use of wood must be delicate, to enhance the natural qualities of the product. An approach, a region and a family that define the wines.
