Located in Alsace, France Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is known for producing high-quality wine. The winery was established in 1959 and is considered one of the leading producers of Alsace wines, with a focus on terroir-driven and estate-grown wines, made from the regions classic grape varieties such as Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris. Zind-Humbrecht has a reputation or producing balanced, elegant wines with a strong sense of place and is known for their use of traditional winemaking techniques. The winery is certified organic and biodynamic.

The 2020 Vintage

The Domaine Zind-Humbrecht 2020 vintage in Alsace was considered to be a fantastic year, with warm and dry growing season that allowed for healthy grape development and ripening. The 2020 vintage is characterised by its balance and freshness, with good acidity and a range of aromas and flavours. Wines from the 2020 vintage are expected to be approachable and enjoyable in their youth, but also have the potential to age well and develop additional complexity over time. As with all vintages, the exact characteristics of the 2020 wines will depend on factors such as the specific terroir, winemaking techniques and individual grape variety.

The single vineyard bottling and Grand Crus are available in limited quantities and allocations will be handled as fairly as possible.

 

 

Domaine Zind Humbrecht Riesling Brand Grand Cru 2020, 75cl

The Grand Cru Brand is located on a biotite granite mother rock (with two micas) on the heights of the village of Turckheim, against the Vosges mountains. Renowned throughout the history of Alsace wine, this terroir probably owes its notoriety to the intensity and brilliance of its wines. The Brand Vineyard ripens its grapes quickly, especially when it takes advantage of favourable summer rainfall like in 2020 when during the first weekend of August, 80mm of water fell in a few days. The Brand is probably the terroir on the estate that requires the greatest precision in choosing the harvest date for the Riesling. It is regularly the first Grand Cru terroir to be harvested, but one of the wines that takes the longest to finish its fermentation!
